Last night I did standing room at the opera for Ariadne auf Naxos. During the break between getting my ticket and tying a scarf to mark my spot I took a little walk and took some pictures. I hope you enjoy.
The blog title alludes to One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Despite the exciting events of the city, each character in the family the book focuses on remains in a state of alienation, which the author constantly refers to as "solitude." We'll let you decide for yourself the meaning of "solitude" as it relates to our lives in Vienna and Paris over the next nine months.
